ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO USE ENGLISH OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
English has become an important part of life in terms of job opportunities, socialization and education. Therefore, English education should be given to children from a young age and this language should be emphasized at school too. The English language should be used and reinforced in and outside the classroom. I will write about the importance of using the English language outside of the classroom.
During the lesson, students are spontaneously encouraged to speak English by the teachers. With various speaking activities on the subject learned that day, students are asked questions and a conversation environment is created. But in my opinion, this is not enough for English acquisition. Because students need to learn daily English, apart from grammatical subjects or specific subjects. This can be achieved by encouraging them to use English with their friends and outside of the classroom. For example, students who learn how to make sentences with the present continuous tense, they make sentences about the present continuous tense in the classroom. However, if the use of English is encouraged outside the classroom, students will learn how to make sentences in situations that they may encounter in daily life. This improves their speaking ability considerably. The same is true for adult learners. For example, for a student who dreams of going abroad, communicating in English outside of the classroom will make him/her much more qualified.
As a conclusion, we, as teachers, must convey to students the importance of using English in the most accurate way possible to encourage the use of English outside of the classroom. We should show them the difference between the sentences formed inside and outside the classroom in terms of structure and type. In my opinion, the student who understands the importance of this will acquire the ability to use English outside of the classroom.
